GENEVA MILLER HISTORICAL SOCIETY

 

            The Geneva Miller Historical Society (GMHS) is a not for profit public service corporation.  It is named in honor of Ms. Geneva Miller, a renowned teacher of history at Haywood County Training/Carver High School in Brownsville, TN.  The major work of the society focuses on researching the past and using this information and collected artifacts as the basis of free public presentations and exhibits.  During 2014 - 2016, the Society presented a monthly series of public conversations (Conversations at Noon) about historical events and people in Haywood County, TN.

The GMHS welcomes donations and contributions, all of which are tax-deductible.  For more information about the GMHS or to make a contribution, contact Dr. Dorothy Granberry at dgrnbrry@aol.com.

Mission: This organization is a nonprofit public corporation and is not organized for the private gain of any person. It is organized under the Tennessee Nonprofit Corporation Act. The Specific purposes for which this corporation is organized include, but are not limited to:

A. Present community programs that examine the contribution of culture and experience to our understanding of past and current local, regional, state, national, and international issues.

 

B. Make accessible primary and secondary sources bearing on the history and development of Haywood County.

 

C. Develop a digital site that tells an inclusive story of the history of Haywood county, its towns, institutions, people, and surrounding region, etc.

 

D. Foster greater involvement in community affairs.
